The Vampire Diaries cast reacts to epic season finale: “We have two months of agonizing in frustration to find out what’s happening.”

Talk about an OMG-worthy season finale.

Even the Vampire Diaries cast members themselves can’t believe the shocking twists and the number of people left in jeopardy in Thursday’s “Founders Day.”

“I think you’re going to be asking, is that person really dead?” said Michael Trevino, whose character Tyler narrowly survived, at the Young Hollywood Awards.

For now it seems as though Anna (Malese Jow) and Mayor Lockwood (Robert Pralgo) are goners. “It doesn’t look too good,” says Candice Accola (Caroline).

As for Caroline’s fate? She’s suffering from internal bleeding and Accola shares viewers’ curiosity. “I really don’t know [what’s going to happen]” she said.

One thing that’s definite? The return of Katherine, Stefan and Damon’s long-lost love. Nina Dobrev (Elena) is looking forward to playing both parts in Season 2.

“I’m going to be playing two characters at once, so it’s going to be challenging, but it’s also going to be a lot of fun and really interesting,” she the show’s star.

“She wreaked so much havoc before she was even here. For 21 episodes everyone teased everything she’s done, how horrible she is, how complicated she makes everyone’s lives.”

“So now that she’s back you can imagine what next season is going to be like.”

In short: It’s gonna be bloody, gory and terrifying.

“A lot of people are going to die,” Dobrev adds.

Steven R. McQueen, who plays Elena’s brother Jeremy, was excited to be a part of “Founders Day” drama: “I think we all took it as a blessing to be able to play these strange situations that can never occur in real life and just feel honored and blessed.”

“Very eloquently said, right?” Zach Roerig, who plays Matt, added.

The show’s male lead, Paul Wesley (Stefan), initially had his fears about doing so much in the season finale, but he was truly pleased by the way it all turned out.

“Well, I was like, ‘Whoa, this a huge endeavor,'” the hunk said of reading the script. “The last four pages … really take the audience on a little bit of a thrill ride. I mean, the whole thing’s good, but the way it ends is kind of incredible.”

Nina Dobrev agrees.

“I remember sitting in bed reading the script, and when I got towards the end it was so [crazy]. Every single episode of The Vampire Diaries, I feel I am always shocked and surprised. … This one being the finale has to exceed all expectations and go above and beyond,” she said.

“I think it does, and it’s crazy and fun, and I had a lot of fun being crazy and doing bad things.”
