Chat galore: TV Fanatic’s set visit, Julie Plec on what’s next for Damon, Zap2it talks to Nina + more

TV Fanatic‘s Gabrielle Compolongo paid a visit to the “Vampire Diaries” set last month. She posted a review of her experience as well as photos with the cast. Except hanging around in Atlanta, Gabrielle talked to Ian Somerhalder about season 2, Elena vs. Katherine and what Damon would do for the woman he loves. Both parts can be found at her blog.

In addition to EW’s 60’s style slideshow, Mandi Bierly has more quotes from Julie Plec. She particularly comments on Elena and Stefan’s reaction when they learn about Damon’s compulsion on reporter Andie Star. The raising tension between the Salvatore brothers is also mentioned. Read an excerpt here and go to Inside TV for the rest of the story.

The tension between the Salvatore Brothers will also continue to rise, Plec says, as they find themselves on opposite ends of a debate about the best methods to protect Elena. “I am fully a Team Salvatore shipper. I want the brothers to be brothers, and to love each other, and to be good to each other always, but that’s part of the journey of the show,” Plec says. “When you’ve got two guys who have feelings for the same girl, that’s not gonna be easy. And it starts to become particularly complicated as we get to the end of the season.”

Buffyfest met Andrew Chambliss during WonderCon’s Dark Horse Panel yesterday. Just in case you didn’t know, the writer is also working on Buffy’s season 9. He talks about writing for it and “Dollhouse” in general, but there are some “Vampire Diaries” questions, too. Great interview, especially for fans of “Buffy”! Check it all out here.

Carina Mackenzie definitely doesn’t waste her time. Besides chatting with Candice, the interviewer caught up with Nina Dobrev. The actress dishes on Damon’s influence in her character’s life, Elena’s immortality, etc. Watch a sneak peek below and stay tuned to Zap2it for more from your favourites.

Vampire Diaries UK return date, Paul Wesley in TV Guide

ITV2 themselves announced the return date for “Vampire Diaries” on their Facebook page a few days ago. And no, this is NOT an April Fools’ Day joke. The show will return British screens April 12th, less than a week after its official return. Cheers, UK fans!

And thanks to Vampire-Diaries.net for the heads up on Paul’s TV Guide feature. In Ileane Rudolph’s chat with the actor, he discusses what’s ahead for Stefan when the show returns, well-known Klaus and his girlfriends on (Elena) and off screen (Torrey DeVitto).

TVD EyeCon 2011: Q&As with Paul, Ian, Steven, Michael + Rob Pralgo

Most of the main “Vampire Diaries” guys attended TVD EyeCon convention this past weekend. Some of the attendees were kind enough to post photos and videos from the Q&A sessions. Vampire-Diaries.net and Vampire Diaries Online were also there. Each of them posted their own recap which you can read here and here. But first, enjoy all the material below.

Lisa Tucker cast as Greta, Paul & Joseph join Twitter + another guest star

The ever reliable Carina Mackenzie dropped a “Vampire” bombshell once again. A couple of days ago, she confirmed that Lisa Tucker has been cast as Luka’s sister. You may recognize her from the fifth season of the hit show “American Idol”. However, she made her debut as actress on “The O.C”. EW was the first to mention the character of Greta. Now, we have more scoop on the last Martin via Zap2it. She’s set to appear in two to four episodes, including the much anticipated finale. Read more below and visit Zap2it for the full article.

Greta is described as “cool, hip, smart,” and “a bit of a thrill-seeker.” Witches are going to play a huge part in the sacrifice and the Salvatores’ quest to kill Klaus, especially now that Jonas, with his dying breath, gave Bonnie (Katerina Graham) the tools to make the kill. Greta will appear in at least two episodes, but we’re hearing that she may actually appear in four — including the big finale.

I’m more than happy to tell you that not one, but two cast members have recently joined Twitter! First, Joseph Morgan (@_josephmorgan) made his current and future fans by creating an account. Paul Wesley (@paulwesley) himself followed “Klaus” and “succumbed to the lure” of the social network. They were both warmly welcome by TVD family (Paul made Twitter explode by gaining more than 100,000 followers in less than a week!). A bit of advice: go follow these two if you haven’t yet. You know you want to. ;)

Pittsburghlive.com interviewed Gino Anthony Pesi a few weeks ago. He’s one of the main supporting guys in “Battle: Los Angeles”, which has been released this month. In their chat, Pesi teases an upcoming role in “Vampire Diaries”. His character is a warlock named Maddox. There’s no current information on whose side he is or how long he will stick around. Anyway, he’d better NOT be killed. With that pretty face, it would be a great loss.

Currently, he’s working on something completely different — the CW Network’s “The Vampire Diaries.”

“My character is a guy named Maddox, and he’s a warlock. It’s kind of fun, because I basically hold up my hand and people go flying off walls.”

HEAD OVER TO TRIBLIVE FOR THE REST OF THE INTERVIEW.

Both The Vampire Diaries and Nikita were down a tenth with adults 18-49 and adults 18-34.

Finally, Blood Falls uploaded some more stills and behind the scenes photos from episode 16 to their gallery. See them all over at their site. To the ones who haven’t seen the episode yet – beware of spoilers!

Seventeen’s Twitter interview with Sara Canning, MTV talks Vampire Diaries dolls

Sara Canning (@saradjcanning) gave a short “Twitterview” to Seventeen Magazine just before episode 15 airing. She also answered some fan questions, such as what she does in her free time. In case you weren’t online on Thursday morning, Seventeen recapped the best moments for you. The entire article is available at their site, thanks to Diarios do Vampiro for the heads up!

She also spilled on what it was like living with Nina Dobrev (when they were filming the first season). Sara gushed, “Living with Nina was awesome—she’d make me delicious coffee concoctions, and I’d bake cupcakes for her.”

MTV weighs in on the “Vampire Diaries” dolls premiered at Toy Fair 2011. Robert Tonner of Tonner Doll Co. gives an exclusive sneak peek at the doll trio, which can be found below. Check out Nuzhat Naoreen‘s report here.

The House Guest (216) promo, Joseph Morgan officially cast as Klaus + will Jenna learn the truth?

Trailer for next week’s episode 16 was revealed, thanks to The CW. Spoiler warning for the ones, who haven’t seen “The Dinner Party” yet. Head over to VampireSite.net for 216’s official description and go here for stills. The February 24th episode will be the last one before another hiatus comes. The show will most likely return April 7th (no official word yet). Thanks to Vampire Diaries Online for the heads up!

According to Deadline, Joseph Morgan has officially singed to play Klaus. TV Line‘s Ausiello dropped the bombshell that the actor was negotiating for the role earlier this month. You may recognize Joseph from “Master and Commander” and “Alexander”. Check out the full report over at Deadline.

Finally, Inside TV has more from their chat with Sara Canning. She teases what’s ahead for her character, particularly in the next episode. Read an excerpt here and visit EW’s Spoiler Room for the rest. Poor Aunt Jenna!

Last night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries was certainly a tough one for Aunt Jenna (Sara Canning). Not only did she find herself distrusting her beau Alaric, but then he went and all but confirmed his streak of dishonesty regarding Isobel. And as it turns out, it’s only going to get worse for Elena’s still-clueless guardian.

“We’ll see her deal with it in her Jenna-like way. She’ll deal with some crazy stuff in next week’s episode, too, actually. Something that will shake her up even worse,” Canning teases.

The Dinner Party (215) song list & ratings

Thanks to “Vampire Diaries” music supervisor Chris Mollere for revealing the tracks used in last night’s episode. There weren’t many, but some great ones were featured. You can find them all below.

1. Foster The People “Pumped Up Kicks” – Amazon US, Amazon UK
2. Pet Lions “When I Grow Old”
3. The XX “Islands” – Amazon US, Amazon UK
4. The National “Lemonworld” – Amazon US, Amazon UK
5. The Airborne Toxic Event “Happiness Is Overrated” – Amazon US, Amazon UK

And TV by the Numbers released this week’s ratings. The show gained 3.01 million viewers, going up from last week. Here’s The CW statement:

THE Vampire Diaries ranked #2 to American Idol among W18-34 (2.0/6) last night and jumped 7% in total viewers (3M) and 7% in A18-49 (1.4/4) versus last week, while remaining steady in A18-34 (1.5/5)

Behind the scenes of tonight’s episode, possible season 2 finale date

Many thanks to Judy Yam (once again!) for releasing a behind the scenes image from tonight’s episode, “The Dinner Party”. It shows Damon and dirty Stefan in the Salvatore broading house back in time.

TV Fanatic is reporting the season finale dates for The CW Network’s shows, including “The Vampire Diaries”. According to the site, the final episode of season 2 will air May 12th. Considering last season’s finale date, I believe we can trust TV Fanatic on this one (like any other ;)).

First look at Hillywood Show’s parody, important character to appear in late April

The Hillywood Show just tweeted they were editing their “Vampire Diaries” parody. This show is different that the other ones out there. And when I say different, I mean light years away. It’s a great mix between entertainment and good acting. A few days ago, they released the first still from the parody featuring tomb Katherine. The whole thing is coming late February. Thanks, Vampire Diaries Online!

The always reliable Ausiello from TV Line got some “Vampire Diaries” scoop, again. Quite a scoop. MAJOR SPOILERS: According to the reporter, Joseph Morgan makes his debut as Klaus on April 21st. Mark your calendars everyone!

Question: My birthday is this week and I was wondering if I could get some scoop on The Vampire Diaries? —Dianna Amy S
